Founder's Message!

Hand & Hand Empowerment was founded during my studies at the illustrious Florida Agricultural & Mechanical University! Love and charity are cornerstones of FAMU’s legacy. These principles immediately inspired me after I began my studies. Being at FAMU helped me fully understand how having these principles as a foundation can catalyze change in the world. My love for humanity and personal commitment to altruism ignited my desire to create Hand & Hand Empowerment as an opportunity for people of all ages to have an opportunity chance to make a change! As a kid, the world can make you feel like you can’t be an active agent when fostering positive changes in your community. Even as an adult, whether working full-time or retired, it can be challenging to find impactful ways to contribute to your community. At Hand & Hand Empowerment, we aspire to be liaisons between all and any community members available opportunities to create positive change. Thank you for taking time to learn more about our organization!

Meet Kimora!

A pleasure to meet you! I am Kimora Williams, a graduate from THE  #1 public HBCU in the nation, Florida Agricultural & Mechanical University, and a graduate student at Georgia State University. With a passion for youth and education, I am a proud middle grades science teacher in the Metro-Atlanta area. As a young adult and executive director, working my fingers to the bone is easy! While balancing an academic and professional life, I try to always stay true to myself as Kimora. In addition to community-based work with Hand & Hand Empowerment, I am a self-proclaimed botanist who loves books, arts, spending time with friends, and a good chemistry joke.

Before Hand & Hand Empowerment, I was a standard North Atlanta High School student. During my tenure at North Atlanta High School, I was blessed with the opportunity to partake in Dual Enrollment. Dual Enrollment is a program offering free college courses to high school students! I felt liberated during my high school career, which taught me preservation, integrity, and empathy.

The most rewarding aspect of the continuous visits to Kipp Vision has been forming bonds and becoming the youth’s role models. These bonds include constant guidance and support, trust and respect, and open and honest communication! Tutoring children within the age bracket of 10 to 13 years old provides extra support for leadership development and confidence building.

My approach to providing community engagement opportunities to young adolescents is primarily inspired by the idea of making people feel valued, which you’ll find reflected in my words and work. I’ve developed a deep understanding of how people feel a sense of purpose when they see they’ve made a difference in someone’s life! As a Founder/Executive Director, I pride myself on affording individuals the opportunity to make an impact.

Hand & Hand Empowerment helps people defy those labels regardless of age, socioeconomic background, or race. Hand & Hand Empowerment reflects my passion for working in a loving and uplifting environment, as it allows me to gratify, motivate, and educate those around me! I am beyond blessed to be able to have touched the lives of others at such a young age and maintain a robust support system behind me!
